Mint Owl Studio: Graphic Card Design featuring Happy Moments

Happy Thursday, all!  Today's project is a lovely example of some of the fun things you can do with all of those little images that come in your stamp sets.  Not only is the newly released Happy Moments stamp set from Mint Owl Studio a must have for all the amazing sentiments but it also has several really fun circle stamps that are all patterned with great graphic designs.  So I wanted to see what I could create using those extras!

I did a really fun and easy technique that is similar to emboss resist only even faster and easier!  If you stamp an image in VersaMark and then allow it to dry it will resist Distress Inks when you blend over the top - but not all the way!  Instead, you get a great lighter tone of the same color and it creates a really fun matte pattern that you can't really achieve with heat embossing.  I used several of the circles in the Happy Moments set for this technique and then used some stitched circle dies to cut out pieces of the patterned paper I'd created.

I then used a Next Level Embossing Folder from We R Memory Keepers to add some texture and dimension to my card base and to add to the graphic feel of the card.  A simple black and white sentiment helped to not distract from all the groovy patterns and colors!  All that was left was to add some sparkle with some sequins and this card is finished!

Thank you so much for joining me today!  I hope you enjoyed this fun and funky card showcasing a neat way to use all the "extras" that come in your stamp sets.  Have a fabulous day and I'll see you next time!  Bye!

VIDEO: Watercoloring W Plus 9 Beautiful Bouquet with Zig Clean Color Markers

Happy Wednesday, friends!  It has been a fun week creating cards for my co-workers!  First, I made a fun birthday card and now a congratulations card to celebrate a retirement!  I've been itching to ink up this gorgeous W Plus 9 stamp set for quite awhile but to be 100% honest, I was a bit intimidated by it!  I've seen so many amazing projects done with this Beautiful Bouquet stamp line and I didn't want to be the first to totally botch a project with these flowers!

But as it turns out, the stamp does all the work for you!  The image is just so beautiful there is really no way to mess it up, especially if you use your Zig markers to color it in.  I'm telling you, they make watercoloring a breeze!  The trick is to let the first layer of color dry before adding darker shadows.  This lets the color build.  Check out the video for a better idea of what I mean by this!

I finished up with some clear droplets from Pretty Pink Posh and just popped the watercolored panel up on a neutral card base - after all, the image is the star of the show!

This card was so much fun to create!  I can't wait to try this image with a different coloring medium - I'm thinking Prismacolors are next . . .  Thanks so much for joining me and I'll see you all next time!  Bye!
