MUST-HAVE TOOLS & SUPPLIES

There are a few things that I reach for A LOT when I'm making cards.   Also, there are some things that I don't even have to reach for because they are just there before I even get started, like my craft mat. From my MISTI to my white gel pen, these items are things that get lots of love in my craft room!

PAPER

When it comes to paper I will readily admit that I do not experiment too much.  I find what I like and I stick with it!  If you are a crafter that enjoys trying out new papers there a lot of fabulous folks out there that could recommend all kinds of papers.  For me, Neenah 110lb Solar White is pretty much my staple supply.  I buy it in bulk and use it on literally every card.  Bristol Smooth White is my go-to for my Zig markers (my faves!) and Canson XL Cold Press watercolor paper is a low cost, fabulous paper for my beginner watercoloring skills.  For colored card stock, Simon Says Stamp and My Favorite Things are my favorites - I love the quality and weight and the great color selection.

ADHESIVES

It is not uncommon for me to use multiple types of adhesive on the same project.  I mean, you need your ATG gun for all your panels, foam tape to pop things up for dimension (and trust me, that giant roll I linked to is necessary!), Micro Glue Dots to adhere your sequins, and a good liquid adhesive for those things you want a few seconds to reposition.  Having good adhesives that you know you can trust is key to successful card making!  Especially when you're sending your beautiful creations through the mail and you want them to arrive in the same condition you sent them in!

DIE CUTTING

Using dies is one of my go-to methods for creating layouts on my cards.  Since that part of card making tends to be the most challenging for me I rely on these fabulous tools to help me out.  My Big Shot machine is sturdy, reliable and super handy!  And I highly recommend a good set of stitched rectangle dies.  Plus, aren't these colored cutting plates just too awesome??

  1. Hi Tara! Thanks for sharing your favorite goodies with us! I have a question: which Neenah solar white do you use, the index or classic crest? I have been wanting to try it but didnt know which one to buy. Thanks!! :) Love your videos!

    1. Hi Steph! I always link to both but I use the index because I can get a giant pack of it from Amazon for a really fabulous price! So in my links above, the Amazon is the index and the SSS is the classic crest. I have never had any issues with the index and I'm pretty obsessed with it! I hope that helps! Thanks!
