VIDEO: Lawnscaping Challenge #131 featuring Flamin-go Together

Hi guys!  Tonight I'm playing along with Lawnscaping Challenge #131: Off Kilter!  The goal of this challenge is to use at least one element at an angle.  So to be honest, I had an idea for the Flamin-go Together stamp set (Adorable!!) that had nothing to do with angles so I went with that idea and then thought of a way to incorporate the angle into the layout.  The major fun of this card is the way it uses the Chirpy-Chirp-Chirp stamp set in a totally unexpected way!  I always like stretching my stamps and thinking outside the box.

So for some reason as soon as I saw this flamingo set I instantly thought "how cute would it be if one of the other adorable Lawn Fawn birds is trying to hang with the flamingos??"  And then it just snowballed from there!  I remembered that the Chirpy-Chirp-Chirp set comes with a paint can and paint brush and I was like BINGO the chicky painted himself pink because he's in love with the lady flamingo!  Does everyone give their stamps little stories or is that just me??

So I used the small palm tree trunk from the flamingo set for the stilts and then cut out the beak of the boy flamingo and glued it over the chicky's beak.  Using a Copic multiliner I drew in strings so it looks like the beak is a little disguise.  I tried to leave yellow areas when I colored the chicks so you could see that they are painted and they missed a few spots . . .

If you are interested in the details of how I made this card, check out the video tutorial.  This card was really fun to make!  I enjoyed the challenge of making my stamps work to bring this idea to life.  Head over to the Lawnscaping Challenge blog to play along with your Off Kilter ideas!!  Until next time, stay happy!  Bye!

  4. Oh my goodness Tara, these are just precious! I love the way you think....a chicken, turned flamingo! LOL Super adorable!
BTW, I get what you say when telling a non-stamper how long it takes to make a card. OMGoodness, I have seen the 'look' before myself. You KNOW they are thinking that we are totally out to lunch. I have learned WHO to talk to about my cards and who not to even bother with! HAHA Seeing you cut out those beaks and colouring the edges made me laugh as I SO DO THAT! Such fun, to those of us who get enjoyment out of it! TFS!

    1. Exactly!! I have some folks that I've learned not to talk crafty with, too. I just get bummed when they aren't as excited as I am. LOL. Thanks, Teresa!
