Good evening, all! I wanted to share my first Unity Friends with Flair entry for 2015. I watched some videos on YouTube about coloring with colored pencils on kraft cardstock in the last couple of weeks and I wanted to give it a try. So I got out my brand new Prismacolor pencils (thanks, hubby!) and my Unity December Kit of the Month and gave it a try.
I needed to make a gift card holder for a dear friend that is addicted to Dutch Bros and coffees so the gorgeous gal in the KOM was perfect for this project! Here are some of the tips I found to be the most useful using my Prismacolors on kraft:
- Use a cream pencil to lay down color first so that when you color on top of it, colors stay vivid on the kraft.
- Don't be afraid to use a lot of layers to achieve the look and color intensity you're after.
- White really shows up well on the kraft and is really great for creating highlights. \
After I got her all colored I masked her off with some Inkadinkado Stamping Mask paper and stamped some falling snow in the background. I used some Perfect Pearls to add shimmer to the snow and the sentiment on the inside of the card. Once the gift card pocket was created I chomped one corner and it was done! I think the coloring on kraft turned out really well and I can't wait to try this technique again.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous new year!!
