You guys! I am a card making machine this weekend! Usually I'm thrilled to find the time to film one video and maybe get another one edited and posted on the weekends but something has gotten me all kinds of inspired today and I just can't stop creating!
I really wanted to play along with the My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #272 and the MFT Color Challenge #41 and I noticed that the deadlines are like, soon. So I decided to get creating and combine both challenges into one card. Now, I gotta tell ya that this Color Challenge was particularly tricky for me because I live in Oregon and I am a Beavers fan, not a Ducks fan. And the Ducks colors are green and yellow, which are the colors for this challenge. So I really had to dig deep to make these colors cute. Thankfully, MFT stamps are super stinking adorable so they look good in any color!
I started by using my MISTI to stamp some of the florals from the Circle Scribbled Flowers stamp set onto a strip of Neenah solar white. This card was a good lesson for me because my original plan got completely ruined by some bad masking. BUT I was able to adjust and save the project - which I think ended up way cuter than my original design anyway! Just a little reminder to not scrap a project unless you're 100% sure there is no way to save it! A mess-up is just an opportunity to think outside the box!
I managed to incorporate all four colors from the challenge into the strip at the top of the card from the Sketch Challenge. I was pretty proud of myself. The adorable kitty and fish from Cat-itude brought in even more of those colors and I used my dark green ink to color some white cardstock the exact same shade of green as my background for my sentiment strip. The vellum circle completes the design from the Sketch Challenge and still allows that pretty pattern to shine through!
Thanks so much for joining me . . . again! Since it's spring break for the hubby and kiddo I would imagine I'm going to be kind of busy this week with family time after work. So it may be a bit until I'm able to post again. Good thing I got a couple up this weekend, eh?? Have a fabulous week and I'll catch you next time! Bye!

Hi, I'm a YT subscriber that enjoys your videos! :) I think you did a great job redesigning your card, and I appreciate seeing how you had to change gears when things didn't go as you originally planned. By the way, I would love to see some videos of cards made using your Brother Scan N Cut. I recently got one too and am trying to learn how to use it for card making. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Looking forward to the video Tara. Glad you are getting lots done!
